We have a lot of books in our house and while my husband is pretty relaxed about most things he never really took to the way I laid all the books in our den horizontally. Getting a sore neck any time he looked for a title wasn't his idea of a good time. He was pleased when he came home recently and they had been re-arranged and were back to "normal." I have to admit they did look kind of silly. Vertical or mixed is definitely the way to go.
